Hotel rooms in central Tokyo with a reasonable price and a decent room space where two adults can have their suitcases open and still walk in the room are not easy to find. Well, the Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo Roppongi is one of those! We took the "Friendly Limousine Bus" from Narita Airport to the "ANA Intercontinental Hotel" (a little bit less than 2 hours). From there it's only a 10-minute walk to the hotel, so it's really convenient. We had a room on the ground floor with milky windows, which didn't bother us at all. The furnishings are modern, even look fairly new, mattresses, bed linen, comforters and pillows guarantee a good night's sleep. The restroom is 'Japanese' standard with a 'Rolls Royce' toilet and a shower worthy of its name. For guests staying longer: Beds are only made on request, i.e. you have to let the reception know. Bath towels are changed daily, cleaning is also only done on request, but the garbage cans are emptied AND there were always 2 bottles of mineral water per day for free AND you can make your own surprisingly good coffee with coffee bags offered on a counter at reception. The location is great with a subway station just underneath the hotel and "Roppongi Crossing" only a good 15 minute walk away. I would book this hotel again mainly because of the ratio of room-size/price/location and the easy access to Narita airport as mentioned above.

Comfortable rooms, slightly dated (slightly dark) but clean and roomy for Tokyo! Friendly staff. Great location with plenty to see and do nearby. Close to Ark Towers for visiting family. A bit pricey but OK considering local.

Beware noise by staff in the very early morning

I wanted to like this hotel - great location (right above a metro station, with many restaurant/entertainment options nearby including for me Suntory Hall for concerts). But I am afraid I cannot recommend it as the risk of a bad experience is too high. First, the room - fine enough but my view was of a wall so it didn’t matter if it was a beautiful day or a lousy one outside, you couldn’t tell. It made for a grim room. Also, it was not well soundproofed. I could hear sometimes boisterous noise from neighbors. Worse, however, was the noise of a housekeeping staff member working in the storeroom across from my room (*02 facing) at 4.30 am the first night I was there and at 3.30 am on my third night. My second night was a Saturday/Sunday stay so I guess this person or persons don’t work Sundays. Now, the noise wasn’t very loud but it was loud enough to wake me up, I went out of the room to complain the first time and the person seemed to be quieter but the damage was done. I couldn’t get back to sleep for some time. I complained to the front desk in the morning but aside from make the usual expressions of regret and sorrow, they apparently did nothing. I asked to see a manager but apparently on weekends, there is no manager on duty so the hapless staff have to manage on their own. If you do stay at this hotel, do not accept a room across from a storeroom. Or be prepared to wear earplugs, which I did not have. Also, woe betide if you have problems during the weekend, there will be no one around with authority to sort them out. Second, the breakfast is pretty poor. You have to make your way to an oddball Hawaiian salads cafe next door (through not very tidy corridors and a lift ride) where the choices are meagre, quality is “meh”, and the ambience is that of a school cafeteria. The service is fast, though. What did I like about this hotel? The toilet with the heated seat was pretty nice. … and again, the location. But otherwise, I am not sure I would risk having my sleep interrupted again. After all, sleep is the bottom line any hotel. Fail that and they haven’t done their job.

Among the positives: good value for money (considering it's Tokyo), clean, and the staff were helpful. If you have business nearby, it absolutely does the job. Negatives: Lackluster amenities/facilities, a very corporate area that's too quiet on the weekends, and a sterile vibe. Stay here if it's convenient, but don't if you're looking for a fun getaway.

This hotel is located at central Tokyo but provide quiet rooms. It was my second stay at this hotel after being happy with my previous stay, as the hotel staff were kind and helpful, and provided good service. It has a good value of money, especially for 2-3 occupancies in a room. In winter, the air is dry in Tokyo, and using air-condition makes air even drier. Having an air cleaner and humidifier in a room helped my sleeping. This machine has unfortunately only Japanese labels – ask the reception to help out. A new breakfast service started in September 2019, and it was a great improvement since my last stay. Although the price is relatively high, there were wide range of food from Japanese to European/American with New Year special menu, and the quality of food is good – simple fruits but they were flesh, not from tin. Breakfast is served at a restaurant Balcony, next building. Restaurant staff were so friendly and kind, and enjoyed talking with them. There were a few comments about electrical sockets, but for me, the one under the desk next to the bed was close enough to extend a cable in the bed. It was not a problem to me.
